ELKINS – Tucker County traveled to old time rival Elkins on Thursday December 27th. The Lady Mt. Lions took the early lead and never trailed in route to a convincing victory by the final score of 51-33.
Tucker County got off to a good start as they led after one quarter of play 12-4. The home standing Lady Tigers fought back early in the second quarter, but Tucker County battled back away to win the second period 10-9 to make the halftime score 22-11 Tucker County.
The Lady Mt. Lions defense held Elkins to 6 points in the third as they outshot the Lady Tigers 16-6 to take a commanding 38-19 lead after three quarters of play. Tucker County continued to dominate on defense in the fourth as the visiting Lady Mt. Lions led by as many as 25 before emptying the bench. The final quarter point total was 14-13 Tucker County to make the final score 51-33 Lady Mt. Lions.
Tucker County was led in scoring by Kelcee James with 11 points and McKinley Murphy added 10 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists. Riley Evans chipped in 9 points for Tucker County and Terra Kuhn had 8 points, 9 rebounds. Aliyah Plum led Tucker County in rebounding with 10 boards and London Hood collected 6 rebounds from the guard position.
Tucker County(5-2) will host East Hardy tonight January 2nd for a varsity only contest at 6pm and then the Lady Mt. Lions will travel to Bishop-Walsh, MD on Saturday January 5th at 5pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
