CLARKSBURG – The Tucker County Softball team picked up their first win of the season last Monday April 7th at Notre Dame 10-2.
The Lady Mt. Lions were led by their pitcher Bekah Simmons as she pitched a complete game and also hit 1 single and a grand slam home run in the contest. Tucker County collected a total of 12 hits in the game. Shannon Whitehair added a double and a triple, Caroline Adams added 3 singles and Mariah Bowley had 2 singles. Melanie Adams, Catherine Pennington, Cheyenne Surguy and Kelly Wagner had 1 single each for the Lady Mt. Lions in the win.
MORGANTOWN – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Trinity on Tuesday April 8th and scored 21 runs to capture their 2nd win of the season 23-13.
Tucker County had an outstanding 16 hits in the game. This consisted of 9 singles, 6 doubles and 1 triple. Bekah Simmons finished with 1 single, 1 double and 1 triple at the plate and Simmons got the win on the mound. Shannon Whitehair added 3 doubles and Mariah Bowley and Caroline Adams finished with 2 singles and 1 double each. Melanie Adams, Lindsey Herron, Catherine Pennington and Alayna Wesoloski had 1 single each for Tucker County in the win.
CAMP KIDD – Tucker County hosted Philip-Barbour on Wednesday April 9th and fell in the contest 14-0. Lindsey Herron took the loss on the mound for the Lady Mt. Lions. The Lady Colts had 10 hits on 26 at bats.
CAMP KIDD – The Lady Mt. Lions ended the week with a home double header against Pocahontas County on Friday April 11th. The first game was won by Pocahontas County 12-5. Tucker County had 11 hits on 34 at bats. Leading the Lady Mt. Lions at the plate was Mariah Bowley with 3 singles and 1 double. Bekah Simmons added 2 singles and 1 double and Shannon Whitehair collected 2 doubles and 1 single. Alayna Wesoloski added 1 single in the loss for Tucker County. Bekah Simmons collected the loss on the mound for the Lady Mt. Lions.
In the second game the Tucker County offense could not get going and they suffered another loss 14-5. Lindsey Herron pitched for the Lady Mt. Lions and took the loss. Mariah Bowley and Maria Ricottilli had 1 double each for Tucker County at the plate. Shannon Whitehair and Catherine Pennington added 1 single each.
Tucker County(2-6) was scheduled to host Hampshire on Monday April 14th and travel to Moorefield on Tuesday April 15th. The Lady Mt. Lions will host Notre Dame tonight at 5pm and then they will host Pendleton County on April 22nd for a double header at 5pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
