LADY MT. LIONS WIN IOGA TOURNAMENT AT GLENVILLE STATE COLLEGE

GLENVILLE – The Tucker County Girls’ Basketball team traveled to Glenville State College on Monday December 11th for the opening round of the IOGA Tournament at the Waco Center against Fayetteville. The Lady Mt. Lions got off to a quick start and never looked back to cruise to a 70-13 win.


In the first quarter Tucker County dominated the game as they took a 27-3 lead after one quarter of play. The Lady Mt. Lions continued the domination as they outshot the Lady Pirates 13-1 in the second quarter to take a commanding 40-4 advantage at the half.

The third quarter would not be much different as Tucker County outran Fayetteville 19-7 in the third quarter to make the score 59-11 after three. The Lady Mt. Lions finished the fourth quarter with a 13-2 advantage to get the opening round tournament victory by the final score of 70-13.

Tucker County was led by Terra Kuhn with 12 points and Sydney Nestor added 11 points, 5 steals. Sydney Moore scored 10 points and Riley Evans chipped in with 9 points for Tucker County in the victory. Fayetteville was led by Malerie Hendrick with 4 points.

GLENVILLE – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled back to Glenville State College on Saturday December 16th for the IOGA Tournament Championship game at the Waco Center against Gilmer County. Tucker County would dominated the Lady Titans to claim their second straight IOGA Tournament Championship with an 81-30 win.

The Lady Mt. Lions got started quickly as they exploded for 22 points in the first quarter and held Gilmer County to just 5 points to give Tucker County the advantage after one quarter 22-5. The situation did not get better for the Lady Titans as Tucker County outscored Gilmer County 23-11 in the second to make the score 45-16 at the half.

In the third quarter Gilmer County managed just 10 points and Tucker County score 14 points to extend the Lady Mt. Lions lead to 59-26 after three quarters of play. Tucker County then outpaced Gilmer County 22-4 in the fourth quarter to capture the IOGA Class “A” Tournament Championship by the final score of 81-30.

Sydney Nestor led Tucker County with 18 points, 6 rebounds and Sydney Moore added 16 points, 6 steals. Cecily Strawderman chipped in with 10 points, while Terra Kuhn and McKinley Murphy added 8 points each for Tucker County in the victory.

Tucker County(4-0) will host Petersburg on Thursday December 21st and then they will host Bishop-Walsh for a varsity only contest on Friday December 22nd at 6pm. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
