The Tucker Valley Girls’ Lady Wildcats Basketball team played a pair of games at Philippi on Feb 5th.
The Lady Wildcats JV team picked up the win in the first game 35-4. McKinley Murphy led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 10 points. The varsity team took home the victory in the second game 42-35. Sydney Nestor led Tucker Valley in scoring with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 7 steals. Dominique Meadows led Tucker valley with 10 rebounds in the win.
On Feb 6th the Tucker Valley Girls’ hosted Petersburg for a JV and Varsity contest. In the first contest the Lady Wildcats JV cruised to the victory 40-18. Kelcee James led Tucker Valley with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Tucker Valley varsity rolled to a victory in the night cap 52-16. Sydney Nestor led the Lady Wildcats with 27 points, 10 rebounds and 8 steals. Sydney Moore added 8 points, 6 rebounds, 6 steals and Dominique Meadows pulled down 9 rebounds.
The Lady Wildcats finished out the regular season with 2 games at Belington on Feb 7th. The Tucker Valley JV team got the win in the first game 29-21. McKinley Murphy led the Lady Wildcats in scoring with 8 points in the victory. In the Varsity game Belington battled the visiting Lady Wildcats, but Tucker Valley was too much as they exploded in the fourth quarter outscoring Belington 23-2 in the period to get the big win 46-26. Sydney Nestor and Emily Crosten led Tucker Valley with 13 points each. Dominique Meadows added 10 points and a team high 13 rebounds. The Lady Wildcats Varsity team finished the regular season undefeated with the win.
The Lady Wildcats JV team will start Tournament play tonight in Elkins at 6pm against Buckhannon. The Tucker Valley Girls’ Varsity team will begin Tournament play on Thursday in Philippi against the Elkins, Philippi winner. Championship games will be on Friday for Varsity and Saturday for the JV team.
