PETERSBURG – The Tucker County Baseball team traveled to Petersburg on Monday April 3rd. The Mt. Lions struggled to score as Petersburg got the win 10-0. The Vikings scored 2 runs in the 1st inning to take a 2-0 lead. Petersburg then scored 1 run in the 3rd, 1 run in the 4th inning to push the Vikings lead to 4-0 after 4 innings. Petersburg added 3 runs in the 5th inning and 3 runs in the 6th inning to give the Vikings the win over Tucker County 10-0. The Vikings outhit the Mt. Lions 5-2. Tucker County was led by Mason Kisamore and Xander Lambert at the plate with 1 hit each. Justin Robeson started on the mound for Tucker County.
PARSONS – The Mt. Lions hosted Moorefield on Wednesday April 5th. The game was tied 3-3 after 4 innings until Moorefield scored 2 runs in the 5th to give the Yellowjackets the win 5-3.
Tucker County scored first as they collected 2 runs in the 1st inning to lead 2-0 after 1. Moorefield then answered back with 3 runs in the 2nd inning to make the score 3-2 Moorefield after 2 innings. The Mt. Lions would then tie the game at 3-3 with 1 run in the 4th inning. The visiting Yellowjackets then got the lead for good in the 5th inning with 2 runs to make the score 5-3 Moorefield. Tucker County could not answer and the game ended with the final score 5-3 Moorefield.
Mason Kisamore, Sam Marks and Maddox Anderson collected 2 hits each while Justin Robeson, Reaid Kisamore and Blaike Adams added 1 hit each for Tucker County in the loss. Ethan Rosenau got the start on the mound for the Mt. Lions, while Nate Ricottilli entered the game in relief.
KINGWOOD – Tucker County traveled to Preston on Friday April 7th for a single game against the Knights. The Mt. Lions collected 13 hits in the game to give them a 13-6 victory over Preston.
Preston scored 1 run in the 1st inning to lead 1-0 after 1. Tucker County then exploded for 2 runs in the 2nd inning, 5 runs in the 3rd inning and 4 runs in the 4th inning. Preston answered back with 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th to make the score 11-3 Tucker County after 4 innings. The Knights would score 1 run in the 5th and 2 runs in the 6th inning, but that would not be enough as the Mt. Lions added 1 run in the 6th and 1 run in the 7th to give Tucker County the win by the final score of 13-6.
The Mt. Lions was led in batting by Mason Kisamore and Nate Ricottilli with 3 hits each including 1 double for each of them. Justin Robeson had 2 hits while Maddox Anderson, Ethan Rosenau, Reid Kisamore, Sam Marks and Blaike Adams had 1 hit each in the win for Tucker County. Recee Poling started the game on the mound for the Mt. Lions.
GLENVILLE – The Mt. Lions traveled to Gilmer County for 2 game on Saturday April 8th. In the first game Tucker County faced off against Liberty. The Mt. Lions managed just 2 hits in the contest as they fell by the score of 11-1.
Tucker County would tie the score at 1-1 in the 2nd inning, but then Liberty pulled away. The Mountaineers would score 4 runs in the 3rd inning and 6 runs in the 6th inning to make up the difference as Liberty won the game 11-1. Mason Kisamore got the start for Tucker County on the mound and lasted 4 innings. Mason Kisamore and Maddox Anderson had 1 hit each for the Mt. Lions in the loss.
In the second game of the day Tucker County played host Gilmer County. The Mt. Lions outhit the Titans 10-9 but Tucker fell in the contest 8-6. The game was tied at 1-1 in the 1st inning and then tied at 5-5 in the 4th inning. Gilmer County then added 1 run in the 5th inning and 2 runs in the 6th inning to give the Titans a 8-5 lead after 6 innings. Tucker County got 1 run in the 7th inning, but they could not get any closer as they fell in the game by the final score of 8-6.
Mason Kisamore led Tucker County at the plate with 1 triple, 1 double and 1 single and Maddox Anderson added 1 double. Xander Lambert had 2 singles while Sam Marks, Blaike Adams, Ethan Rosenau and Justin Robeson had 1 hit each. Ethan Rosenau got the start for the Mt. Lions on the mound.
