PARSONS – The #2 Tucker County Football team hosted #15 Midland Trail in the first round of the West Virginia Football Playoffs on Friday November 10th. The Mt. Lions scored on their first offensive play and they never looked back enroute to a 46-6 Playoff win.
Midland Trail got the ball to start the game, but they were forced to punt. Tucker County then took over at their own 30 yard line. On the very first play Ethan Rosenau completed a pass to Maddox Anderson and he raced 70 yards for a touchdown. The 2 point conversion was good on a pass to Garrett Wilfong to make the score 8-0 Mt. Lions with 10:15 left in the first. Another punt by Midland Trail would give the ball back to Tucker County, but the Mt. Lions drive stalled at the Patriots 13 after a failed fourth down. The Midland Trail offense continued to struggle as they were forced to punt again. Tucker County then put together a 43 yard drive that was capped off on a 20 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Blaike Adams with 3:05 left in the first quarter. The PAT was good on an Adams run to put the score to 16-0. In the second quarter the Mt. Lions would get on the scoreboard again with a 24 yard touchdown pass to Adams. The PAT was good on a pass to Wilfong to push the Tucker County lead to 24-0 with 10:43 left in the second. The visiting Patriots were unable to get their offense moving as the Mt. Lions got the ball back on an interception by Anderson. Tucker County then capitalized on the turnover as Rosenau connected with Anderson again on a 35 yard touchdown with 5:59 left in the first half. The 2 point conversion was good on a pass to Wilfong to make the score 32-0. Midland Trail then put together a nice drive that took the ball inside the 5 yard line of Tucker County. The Patriots then had the ball at the 1 yard line with a few seconds left in the second quarter, but a fumbled snap caused the clock to expire. The Mt. Lions led at the halftime break 32-0.
Tucker County received the kick to start the third quarter and went right to work on offense. The Mt. Lions drove the ball down the field and scored on a 16 yard touchdown run by Jared Reall. The PAT was no good as Tucker County led the contest 38-0 with 9:21 left in the third quarter. The Mt. Lions would add another score in the third on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Wilfong with 3:34 left in the third quarter. The PAT was good on an Adams run to push the Tucker County lead to 46-0. Midland Trail would get on the scoreboard in the fourth quarter as David Moore scored on a 6 yard touchdown run. The PAT kick was blocked to make the score 46-6 Tucker County. The remaining time of the game was run out and the Mt. Lions collected the playoff win by the final score of 46-6.
Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County on 15 of 19 passing for 283 yards and Maddox Anderson had 7 receptions for 167 yards receiving. Jared Reall finished with 17 carries for 135 yards rushing and Blaike Adams collected 6 receptions for 95 yards receiving in the win for the Mt. Lions. On defense Tucker County was led by Jared Reall with 7 tackles and Garret Wilfong added 6 tackles for the Mt. Lions.
#2 Tucker County(11-0) will host #7 Tug Valley on Saturday November 18th at home for the quarterfinal playoff game. Kickoff is set for 4pm. For more information go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
