OAKLAND, MD – The Tucker County Football team traveled to Southern Garrett on Friday October 14th. The Mt. Lions used big plays all night to build a lead and Tucker County got the road win by the final score of 56-27.
Southern would get the scoring started with a 5 yard touchdown run and the 2 point conversion was good to give the Rams the 8-0 lead early. Tucker County answered with a 15 yard touchdown pass from Ethan Rosenau to Blaike Adams and the PAT attempt was good to tie the score at 8-8. The Mt. Lions would score once again in the first quarter off another pass from Rosenau to Adams for a 63 yard touchdown. The conversion was good to give Tucker County the 16-8 lead. The Mt. Lions would get on the scoreboard one more time before the first quarter ended on a 38 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Maddox Anderson. The PAT conversion was good to make the score 24-8 Tucker County after one quarter of play.
In the second quarter Tucker County would score on a big play as Rosenau connected with Anderson for a 72 yard pass for another Mt. Lions touchdown. The conversion failed to give Tucker County a 30-8 lead. The Mt. Lions would add another score in the second quarter as Rosenau throws a 59 yard touchdown pass to Anderson. Ashton Lycliter made the extra point kick to push the Tucker County lead to 37-8. The homestanding Rams would get into the endzone before halftime with a 23 yard touchdown pass. The PAT kick was no good and both team went into the halftime break with Tucker County leading the game by the score of 37-14.
The third quarter would only have one scoring drive as Tucker County added to their score with a Rosenau pass to Trenton Wilfong for a 39 yard touchdown. The PAT kick by Lycliter was good to make the score 44-14 after three quarters of play.
The Mt. Lions would start the scoring in the fourth quarter with another passing touchdown as Rosenau hit Lycliter for a 3 yard touchdown. The PAT kick was no good to give Tucker County a 50-14 lead. Southern then added a score with a 35 yard touchdown run and the conversion kick was no good to put the scoreboard at 50-20 Tucker County. The Mt. Lions then answered once again with a Rosenau 32 yard touchdown pass to Adams. The PAT kick was no good to make the score 56-20 Tucker County. The Rams then added a score late in the game on a 63 yard touchdown run. The extra point kick was good to make the final score 56-27 Mt. Lions.
Tucker County’s Ethan Rosenau ended the game with huge night passing as Rosenau was 25 of 30 for 537 yards. Maddox Anderson led the Mt. Lions at the receiving position with 6 receptions for 209 yards and Blaike Adams added 10 catches for 157 yards receiving. Trenton Wilfong finished close behind with 6 receptions for 136 yards. Jared Reall carried the ball on the ground 9 times for 45 yards rushing for the Mt. Lions. Reall led the Mt. Lions on defense with 10 tackles and Gavin Mullenax added 6 tackles for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions outgained the Rams in total yards 592-320.
