MT. LIONS BASEBALL PLAYS 3 GAMES ON THE ROAD

FRANKLIN – Tucker County traveled to Pendleton County on Thursday April 5th for a double header with the Wildcats. Weather canceled the game in Parsons on Wednesday April 4th to force the road double header. In the first game Cameron Wamsley appeared in his first game of the season on the mound and took the loss by the final score of 11-0. Wamsley gave up 10 hits and walked 4 batters. The Tucker County offense managed just 1 hit from Michael Gherman in the 4th inning.


Michael Gherman took to the mound to pitch in game 2 of the evening at Pendleton County. Gherman suffered the loss as he gave up 6 earned runs and 12 runs total and the Mt. Lions fell in the contest by the final score of 15 -0. Gherman was also the only batter to pick up a hit in the contest.

PHILIPPI – The Mt. Lions traveled to Philip-Barbour on Friday April 6th for 1 game against the Colts. Tucker County showed the potential as they fell in the contest by the final score of 12-6. The Colts scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning and the Mt. Lions were down 5-0 before they rallied back. Wesley Snyder drew a walk to start the 3rd inning and then Gus Mullenex stepped up and hit a homerun over the left center field fence to cut the Philip-Barbour lead to 5-2. Then the Mt. Lions scored 2 more runs off a Shane Humphrey single that scored Christian Purnell and Cameron Wamsley to make the score 5-4 Colts. In the next inning Cameron Wamsley got an RBI as he knocked in Byron Gidley and Gus Mullenex to tie the game at 6-6. The Mt. Lions could not manage to get the offense going again and fell in the contest 12-6. Shayne Liller got the start on the mound as he pitched 5 innings and struck out 11 batters while walking just 3.

Tucker County will travel to South Harrison on Thursday and they will take the road to Doddridge County on Friday. For a complete schedule and more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
