BAKER – The Tucker County High School Baseball team traveled to East Hardy on Wednesday March 20th. The Mt. Lions fell in a heart breaker as East Hardy rallied back in the 6th inning to claim the victory over Tucker County by the final score of 13-9.
The Mt. Lions got the scoring started in the first inning as they scored 4 runs early. Tucker County added 4 more runs in the fourth inning and the Mt. Lions added 1 run in the top of the sixth inning to make the score 9-8 Tucker County late in the game. East Hardy then answered back in the bottom of the sixth inning when they took the led and never look back. Tucker County loaded the bases in the top of the seventh inning, but the Mt. Lions left the runners stranded to end the game with the score of 13-9 Cougars.
Cameron Wamsley started the game for Tucker County and Wamsley went 4 innings and allowed 6 hits, 6 runs. Wamsley also struck out 8 East Hardy batters while on the mound for Tucker County. Liam Hood and Corrick Ambrose entered the game on the mound in relief action for the Mt. Lions. Alec Cumming, Ambrose and Zach Colebank each collected multiple hits for Tucker County at the plate. Tucker County had 12 hits in the contest and the Cougars connected with 11 hits in the victory. The Mt. Lions committed 5 fielding errors that led to 6 runs for East Hardy.
Tucker County will return to action tonight at Lincoln at 5:30pm. The Mt. Lions will then travel to Trinity on Thursday at 5pm and then Tucker County will make the trip to North Marion on Saturday for a doubleheader starting at 12pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
