PARSONS – The Tucker County Baseball team started Sectional play on Monday May 12th at home and picked up a 18-8 win over Union.
Allen Molone got the win on the mound for the Mt. Lions. Billy Plum led Tucker County at the plate as he had his first home run of the season, 1 single and 1 double to put him 1 triple shy of a cycle. Kevin McDermott also had 1 home run in the game and 2 doubles and Justin Fike finished with 3 singles and 1 double. Landon Dillard added 3 singles, 3 stolen bases and scored 3 times in the contest
MILL CREEK – On Tuesday May 13th the Mt. Lions traveled to Tygarts Valley for the second round Sectional game. The Bulldogs exploded for 11 runs in the first 3 innings to take the game 11-4. Zac Haddox took the loss at pitcher for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions finished the game with just 5 hits total. Haddox led Tucker County in batting with 1 single and 1 double. Allen Molone followed with 2 singles in the game for the Mt. Lions and Justin Fike added 1 double in the game.
PARSONS – Rain delayed the Sectional elimination game with Union until Saturday May 17th. In the contest the Mt. Lions got the win 10-6.
Tucker County got off to a quick start as they lead early 10-1 and were looking to beat Union for the 4th time this season. The visiting Tigers would not go away as they hung tough keeping the game close. The Mt. Lions held onto the lead and picked up the victory to keep their season alive 10-6. Landon Dillard and Justin Fike led Tucker County at the plate as they had 3 hits each.
The Mt. Lions were scheduled to travel to Tygarts Valley on Monday May 19th for an elimination game. If the Mt. Lions win they will play the Bulldogs at home on Tuesday May 20th with the winner moving on to Regional play.
