Hole-in-one history maker, Drew Simmons

The Tucker County Mountain Lions golf team traveled to Valley View Golf Course in Moorefield on Monday to compete in a major 18-hole event featuring 14 high school teams from across West Virginia and Virginia. With nearly 70 golfers in the field, the event provided stiff competition, and a few memorable highlights for the Mountain Lions.

While the team didn’t post its strongest collective score, several standout moments made the day a success.

Leading the team was junior Nate Davis, who turned in a solid performance to place 16th overall, putting him well within the top quarter of the field. His consistent play continues to be a key asset for the Mountain Lions this season.

The headline moment of the day came from fellow junior Drew Simmons, who delivered a hole-in-one on his second-to-last hole of the round, the first of his career and a historic achievement for Valley View Golf Course. Simmons’ ace was the first-ever hole-in-one recorded during a high school event at the course, marking a milestone not only for himself but also for the program and the venue.

Later in the week, the team traveled to The Highlands Golf Course at Fisher Mountain in Pendleton County for a nine-hole event, an important warm-up for next week’s PVC Golf Tournament, which will also be held at Highlands.

Once again, Nate Davis led the way with a 9th-place finish, giving him back-to-back top 20 results heading into the most important stretch of the season.
