PARSONS – Tucker County hosted Moorefield on Friday September 18th. The Mt. Lions got down early , but the home team scored 21 points to make the final score 44-28 Moorefield.
Tucker County won the coin toss and deferred their option until the second half to give Moorefield the ball on offense first. The Yellowjackets then went right to work as they scored after a 4 play 62 yard drive. A 21 yard touchdown run by Moorefield would give them the early lead of 7-0 with 10:34 left in the first quarter. The Mt. Lions offense failed to move the ball on their first possession to give Moorefield the ball back. This time the visiting team scored on a 3 yard touchdown run and the PAT kick was good again to make the score 14-0 Moorefield with 7:40 left in the first. The Yellowjackets would add two more scores in the first quarter off a 5 yard touchdown run and a 21 yard touchdown pass to push the score to 28-0 Moorefield at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter belonged to Moorefield as well as they scored on a 7 yard touchdown run to start the second quarter to give Moorefield the 34-0 lead when the PAT kick was blocked. Tucker County then fumbled the ball back to Moorefield on their next drive and the Yellowjackets capitalized. Moorefield then scored on a 10 yard touchdown run to make the score 41-0 with 10:35 left in the second. Tucker County again failed to sustain their drive on offense and Moorefield took over again on offense. The Mt. Lions then stalled the Yellowjacket drive, but a Moorefield 41 yard field goal with 5:05 left in the first half pushed the score to 44-0 Moorefield. The Mt. Lions then got their offense moving on their next drive as they would get on the scoreboard on a 1 yard touchdown run by Jakob Barrett. The 2 point conversion was no good to make the score 44-6 with 2:29 left in the second quarter. The second quarter time then expired to make the halftime score 44-6 Moorefield.
Tucker County got the ball to start the third quarter and the Mt. Lions offense put together an impressive drive. Tucker County capped off an 18 play 80 yard drive with a 2 yard touchdown run by Ethan Rosenau. The PAT attempt was stopped to make the score 44-12 with 1:27 left in the third. The third quarter would then end with the score the same 44-12 Moorefield.
In the fourth quarter the Mt. Lions added 2 scores as Ashton Lycliter went 15 yards for a touchdown run and Roseau scored on a 6 yard touchdown run. The last score for Tucker County came with 5:58 left in the game to make the score 44-28 Moorefield. The Yellowjackets then drove the ball and ran out the clock to end the game by the final score of 44-28 Moorefield.
Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County on 8 of 12 passing 118 yards and 9 carries for 29 yards rushing. Maddox Anderson added 3 receptions for 58 yards and Ashton Lycliter had 4 receptions for 29 yards. Moorefield outgained the Mt. Lions in total offense 324-226.
