MOOREFIELD – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team traveled to PVC rival Moorefield on Thursday January 17th. The Mt. Lions got down early, but Tucker County got the offense going and rolled to a 62-37 road victory.
Moorefield took the early lead to start the game. Tucker County then finished the first quarter with a scoring run to give the Mt. Lions the lead after one quarter of play 15-8. The second quarter was played even as Moorefield edged Tucker County in the second 13-12 to make the halftime score 27-21 Tucker County.
The Mt. Lions then extended their lead in the third quarter as they dominated the Yellowjackets 18-6 to give Tucker County the 45-27 lead after three. In the fourth quarter the Mt. Lions again outscored Moorefield by the count of 17-10, and the visiting team Tucker County picked up the win going away by the final score of 62-37.
Jeffrey Snyder led Tucker County with 20 points and Cameron Wamsley added 13 points, 14 rebounds in the win for the Mt. Lions. Wyatt Betler and Gus Mullennex also added 10 points each for Tucker County.
Tucker County(3-8) will host Notre Dame for a varsity only contest on Friday January 25th at 7:30pm. The Mt. Lions will then travel to East Hardy on Tuesday January 29th with the JV contest scheduled to start at 6pm and the varsity game to follow. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
