HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team entertained Elkins at home on Saturday December 29th. Tucker County fought back several time from double digits deficits, but the Mt. Lions could not complete the comeback as they fell to the Tigers by the final score of 83-67.
Elkins got off to a fast start as they led after one quarter of play 26-9. The Mt. Lions battled back in the second quarter as they outscored the Tigers 20-7 to make the halftime score 35-29 Elkins.
The Tigers pulled away again in the third quarter as they outshot Tucker County 22-12 to push the Elkins lead back to 57-41 after three quarters. The final quarter was played even as both teams netted 26 points in the final quarter to make the final score 83-67 Elkins.
Jeffrey Snyder led the way for Tucker County as he ended the night with 39 points, 10 rebounds and Corrick Ambrose added 17 points, 10 assists.
HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions hosted PVC and Sectional Rival Moorefield on Friday January 4th. Tucker County lead throughout the contest, but the home team pulled away from the Yellowjackets in the second half to collect at 77-48 win.
The Mt. Lions came out strong to start the game, but Moorefield fought back late in the quarter to make the score 16-13 Mt. Lions after one quarter. Tucker County outpaced the Yellowjackets in the second quarter 16-12 to extend the Mt. Lions lead to 32-25 at the half.
Tucker County came out strong in the third quarter as the Mt. Lions outscored Moorefield 21-10 to push the Tucker County lead to 53-35 after three quarters of play.
The fourth quarter also belonged to Tucker County as they scored 24 points in the final quarter and held Moorefield to 13 points to make the final score 77-48 Tucker County.
Jeffrey Snyder led Tucker County with 32 points, 10 rebounds and Corrick Ambrose added 20 points, 10 assists. Wyatt Betler had 13 points, 10 rebounds and Cameron Wamsley chipped in with 9 points in the Mt. Lions win.
CUMBERLAND, MD – Tucker County traveled to Cumberland, MD to face Bishop-Walsh on Saturday January 5th. The Spartans were too big and athletic as the Mt. Lions fell in the contest 86-27.
Bishop-Walsh started strong as they lead after one quarter 27-6. The home standing Spartans continued to run and gun as they led at the half 45-16.
Bishop-Walsh continued to make shots as they led after three quarters 66-23. Tucker County then got outscored 20-4 in the final quarter to make the final score 86-27 Bishop-Walsh.
Tucker County was led by Jeffrey Snyder with 11 points and Corrick Ambrose chipped in with 6 points. Cameron Wamsley added 5 points and 9 rebounds for the Mt. Lions in the loss.
