PARSONS – The Tucker County Football team hosted Pendleton County on Homecoming night last Friday October 1st.  The Mt. Lions scored two touchdowns in the first half and the Tucker County defense held Pendleton County out of the end zone all evening to secure the 14-0 win.

Pendleton County received the kick to start the game.  The Tucker County defense set the tone early as JJ Knotts came up with an interception with 11L04 left in the first quarter.  The Mt. Lions got the ball at the Wildcats 31 yard line and went to work on offense.  Then 6 plays later Tucker County scored on a 1 yard touchdown run from Jared Reall.  The 2 point conversion was good on a pass from Ethan Rosenau to Racer Channell to make the score 8-0 Tucker County with 7:12 left in the first quarter.  Both teams could not sustain drives the rest of the first quarter as the scored remained the same after one quarter 8-0 Mt. Lions.  Pendleton County got some offense going to start the second quarter, but the Tucker County defense stepped up to force a turnover on downs after a failed fourth down play.  The Mt. Lions took over at their own 40 yard line.  Tucker County then marched the ball down the field.  Then Rosenau connected with Maddox Anderson on a beautiful 31 yard touchdown pass with 6:22 left in the second quarter.  The PAT conversion failed to put the score to 14-0 Tucker County.  Pendleton County would get an interception with 24 seconds left in the second quarter to stop a scoring opportunity.  The Wildcats returned the interception to the Tucker County 42.  Pendleton County could not capitalize before halftime as Tucker County’s Wesley Strawderman intercepted the Wildcat pass as time expired in the first half to keep the score at 14-0 Tucker County at halftime.

In the third quarter Pendleton County would get the ball down to the Mt. Lions 20 yard line.  The Tucker County defense would step up again as they forced another turnover on downs to give the ball back to the offense.  Neither team could maintain drives the rest of the third quarter to keep the score at 14-0 Tucker County after three quarters.  It was more defense in the fourth quarter as both teams drove the ball into well, but failed fourth down plays were the results.  The game ended with the scoreboard the same and the Mt. Lions picked up a big win over Pendleton County by the final score of 14-0.

Tucker County was led in passing by Ethan Rosenau who ended the night 10 of 22 passing for 152 yards.  The Mt. Lions Maddox Anderson caught 2 passes for a total of 69 yards and Jared Reall chipped in with 16 carries for 43 yards rushing.  JJ Knotts had 39 yards rushing and 40 yards receiving for Tucker County in the win.  Racer Channell added 4 receptions for 33 yards on offense for the Mt. Lions.  Tucker County outgained Pendleton County in total yards 247-to 157.  Wesley Strawderman led the Mt. Lions on defense with 7 tackles, while Jared Reall added 6 tackles on defense for Tucker County.

Nevaeh Nichols was crowned Homecoming Queen during the halftime ceremony of the game.
