Senior Trista Collar returns for the Lady Mt. Lions Softball team
First year Head Coach Jake Phillips will guide the Tucker County Girls’ Softball team this season.

Phillips had this to say about this opportunity, “It is exciting to be the Head Coach of the Lady Mt. Lions Softball Team. We got a lot of youth with a little bit of leadership coming back at third base and pitching.”

This year’s team has 4 players returning from last year, but there is 15 girls’ on the roster that are Freshmen and Sophomores. The 22 players that make up this year’s team are as follows: Seniors, Trista Collar, Angela Myers. Juniors, Kelly Wagner, Sydney Cangley, Abbey Eye, Mary Pennington, Bethany Barwinczak, Emily Besley and Cheyenne Phillips. Sophomores, Camryn Cummings, Abigail Zais, Sophia Ricottillii, Isabella Zais and Melanie Adams. Freshmen, Dominique Meadows, Alison Zirk, Alexis Thompson, Maliyah Smith, Gabrielle Zais, Elizabeth King and Trista Collar.

When ask about how the team is coming together Phillips said, “We are still evaluating talent, we are running different people through a lot of different positions to see what we have to work with.” Phillips is no stranger to coaching as he has been working with youth for the past 15 years at the Rubenstein Center as Activities Coordinator. Phillips is a lifetime Tucker County resident and a 1994 TCHS Graduate. Phillips also played baseball all 4 years of his high school career.

The schedule this year features 25 games total and only 9 home games played at Camp Kidd Park outside of Parsons. Come out and support these Lady’s as they open their season this week. Check out the full schedule and follow the whole season at TuckerCountySports.Com.
