The Davis Health System Foundation is ready for its seventh annual golf tournament with a familiar setting but a new worthy cause.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. and golfers will tee it up at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 2, on the renowned Palmer Course at Stonewall Resort. The cost is $100 per golfer, which includes lunch and on-course contests. Major support for the event is provided Allegheny Insurance, with additional sponsorship from Frontier Communications.
“This has become a very popular event, with many of the more than 100 golfers coming back year after year,” said James “Jay” Wallace, president and CEO of Allegheny Insurance. “We’re pleased to continue to support the communities in which we operate by helping the Davis Health System Foundation ensure access to quality health care and talented specialists.”
Dan Bucher, special projects coordinator for Davis Health System and the Davis Health System Foundation, said the golf tournament plays a key role in helping to fund important projects. The Davis House received funds for the last two years, and this year’s proceeds will be dedicated to a telehealth initiative.
“Taking advantage of technology is a wonderful way to reach out to patients and healthcare providers in our rural area,” Bucher noted. “We can use audio and video feeds to provide quick access to specialists or make follow-up appointments much more efficient and less stressful. Golfers can know that while they’re having a good time on the course, they are assisting people in their hometowns as well.”
Past events have raised tens of thousands of dollars to help The Davis House, which is now open and providing free, family-friendly lodging for people undergoing treatment at the Cancer Care Center at Davis Memorial Hospital.
Individual and team golf openings remain for the tournament, and sponsorship opportunities are still available.
