The Tucker County High School Cross Country team put in a strong showing at the Buckhannon-Upshur Invitational on Saturday, with both the girls’ and boys’ teams racing against a competitive field of runners from across the region.
The girls’ race kicked off the event at 9:00 a.m., and freshman Estoria Chase led the charge for Tucker County. Chase ran a personal best of 23:10, earning a medal and finishing impressively in a field of 69 runners. Close behind was Addi Moats, who posted a time of 25:01, followed by Lilly Collar, finishing in 34:18.
On the boys’ side, the Mountain Lions raced to a 9th-place team finish, coming just eight points shy of overtaking Quad-A powerhouse Preston County in a field of 15 schools. Cameron Judy was the top finisher for Tucker, claiming 16th place with a strong time of 18:53. Lynk Suesli crossed in 27th at 19:24, followed by Alex Collar in 29th with a time of 19:43. William Gilligan added a 21:25, and newcomer Draven Bunnell rounded out the team with a respectable 22:58 in a competitive field of 99 runners.
Tucker County Cross Country will look to build on this momentum when they travel to South Harrison for their next meet on Saturday, September 6th.
