PARSONS – The Mt. Lions hosted Trinity on Monday April 8th. Tucker County battled, but they fell at home to the Warriors 13-3.
The Mt. Lions got the scoring started early as they led after 1 inning 1-0. Trinity would tie the game in the 4th inning to make the score 1-1. The visiting Warriors then would score again as they seen 4 runs cross the plate in the top of the 5th to make the score 5-1 Trinity. Tucker County then answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to put the score at 5-3 Warriors. However, Trinity would add 5 runs in the 6th inning and 3 runs in the 7th inning to make the final score 13-3 Trinity.
Tucker County was led at the plate by Nate Ricottilli with 2 hits. Ethan Rosenau added 1 hit and Jordan Robeson collected 1 hit also. Ethan Rosenau started the game on the mound as he went 4 innings. Nate Ricottilli, Xander Lambert, Justin Robeson, Reid Kisamore and Jordan Robeson entered the game in relief.
PARSONS – Tucker County then hosted Southern for a single game on Tuesday April 9th. The Mt. Lions built a lead and then held off a Rams comeback to capture their first win of the season 4-3.
The game started with 3 scoreless innings until Tucker County scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 4th inning. The Mt. Lions then added 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning to make the score 4-0 Tucker County. Southern then scored 1 run in the 6th inning to put the score to 4-1 after 6 innings. The visiting Rams then drove in 2 runs in the top of the 7th, but that wasn’t enough to extend the game. This gave Tucker County the victory by the final score of 4-3.
Tucker County collected 4 hits in the game as Ethan Rosenau led the team with 2 hits. Blake Helmick and Xamber Lambert had 1 hit each for the Mt. Lions. Justin Robeson, Maddox Anderson and Xander Lambert seen time on the mound as they combined to hold Southern to just 2 hits in the game.
PARSONS – The Mt. Lions hosted Pocahontas County for a doubleheader on Wednesday April 10th. Tucker County would pick up 2 wins as they won the first game 7-6 and they got the win in the second game 13-1.
In game 1, both teams scored 2 runs in the 1st inning to keep the score tied at 2-2. The Mt. Lions then added 2 runs in the 3rd inning and 1 run in the 4th inning to take a 5-2 lead after 4 innings. Pocahontas County then scored 1 run in the top of the 5th inning, but Tucker County answered with 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th to give the Mt. Lions a 7-4 lead after 5 innings. The visiting Warriors fought back in the top of the 7th inning as they scored 3 runs, but that was not enough as Tucker County got the win by the score of 7-6.
Blaike Adams led Tucker County with 2 hits(1 double) and Maddox Anderson also had 2 hits. Ethan Rosenau, Nate Ricottilli and Reid Kisamore added 1 hit each in the win for the Mt. Lions. Nate Ricottilli got the start on the mound for Tucker County, while Xander Lambers and Maddox Anderson entered the game in relief.
In the second game the Mt. Lions exploded with 9 runs in the 2nd inning and 4 runs in the 3rd inning to take a commanding 13-0 lead. The Warriors would score 1 run in the 5th inning to prevent the shutout, but Tucker County got the win by the final score of 13-1.
The Mt. Lions were led at the plate by Ethan Rosenau, Nate Ricottilli and Xander Lambert with 2 hits each. Reid Kisamore added 1 double, while Blaike Adams and Owen Bolyard chipped in with 1 hit each in the win for Tucker County. Maddox Anderson pitched a complete game for the Mt. Lions as he allowed just 1 hit and struck out 8 batters.
Tucker County will travel to Southern today Wednesday April 17th at 4:30pm. The Mt. Lions will then travel to Tygarts Valley on Thursday April 18th for a 6pm start. For more information go to TuckerCountySports.com.
