PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Baseball team hosted Philip Barbour on Monday April 22nd. Tucker County led early, but the Colts exploded in the 6th inning to take the 17-9 victory.
Philip Barbour scored first as they got 1 run in the 1st inning to lead early 1-0. The Mt. Lions responded in the bottom of the 1st as they scored 2 runs and then Tucker County added 1 run in the 2nd inning to make the score 3-1 Tucker County after 2 innings. Philip Barbour then added 2 runs in the 3rd inning and 3 runs in the 4th inning to make the score 6-3 Colts after 4 innings. The visiting team would then score 2 runs in the top of the 5th inning to push the Colts lead to 8-3. Tucker County then responded with a big inning in the bottom of the 5th inning as they plated 5 runs to tie the score at 8-8 after 5 innings of play. Philip Barbour then erupted with 9 runs in the 6th inning to give the Colts the lead 17-8. The Mt. Lions got 1 run in the bottom of the 6th, but the game would end with a Philip Barbour win 17-9.
Ethan Rosenau led Tucker County with 2 hits and Blake Helmick added a double for the Mt. Lions in the loss. Maddox Anderson, Nate Ricottilli, Justin Robeson and Blaike Adams chipped in with 1 hit each for Tucker County. Ethan Rosenau started on the mound for the Mt. Lions. Maddox Anderson, Nate Ricottilli, Xander Lambert, Justin Robeson and Jordan Robeson entered the game in relief.
Before the game the Tucker County Baseball Seniors were honored. These Seniors are as follows: Ethan Rosenau, Maddox Anderson, Justin Robeson, Blaike Adams, Ethan McCrum and Owen Knotts.
PARSONS – Tucker County hosted East Hardy on Tuesday April 23rd. The Mt. Lions battled early in the game, but the Cougars scored 6 runs in the 3rd inning to pull away for the 13-1 victory.
East Hardy would produce 2 runs in the 1st inning to lead 2-0 halfway through the 1st inning. Tucker County would respond with 1 run in the bottom of the 1st inning to make the score 2-1 Cougars. East Hardy then scored 2 runs in the 2nd inning and 6 runs in the 3rd inning to break the game open with the score of 10-1 through 3 innings. The visiting Cougars added to their lead with 1 run in the 4th and 2 runs in the 5th inning to give East Hardy the win by the score of 13-1.
Nate Ricottilli had the lone hit for Tucker County in the 1st inning. Maddox Anderson got the start on the mound for Tucker County. Ethan Rosenau and Nate Ricottilli entered the game in relief for the Mt. Lions.
PETERSBURG – The Mt. Lions finished the week with a road game in Petersburg on Wednesday April 24th. Tucker County struggled to score in the game as Petersburg won the game 11-1.
The Vikings would light the scoreboard first as they scored 1 run in the 1st inning. Petersburg then added 2 runs in the 3rd inning and 4 runs in the 4th inning to make the score 7-0 after 4 innings. The Mt. Lions would then get on the scoreboard in the top of the 5th inning to put the score at 7-1. The Vikings would then extend the lead as they plated 2 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning and 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th inning to end the game with the score of 11-1.
Blaike Adams led Tucker County with 2 hits. Maddox Anderson, Justin Robeson, Ethan Rosenau, Xander Lambert and Owen Bolyard had 1 hit each for the Mt. Lions in the loss. Justin Robeson got the start for Tucker County on the hill. Ethan Rosenau and Maddox Anderson entered the game in relief.
Tucker County will host Tygarts Valley today, Wednesday May 1st at 6pm. The Mt. Lions will then travel to East Hardy on Thursday May 2nd at 6pm. For more information go to TuckerCountySports.com.
