TUCKER COUNTY BASEBALL OPENED THE SEASON WITH ROAD GAMES

MOOREFIELD – The Mt. Lions Baseball team traveled to Moorefield on Tuesday March 26th for the first game of the season.  The Yellowjackets were in the lead 8-2 when the game was stopped due to rain.

The 1st inning started with Tucker County scoring to make the score 1-0 at the bottom of the 1st inning.  Moorefield answered back to tie the score 1-1 after 1 inning.  The Mt. Lions would then add 1 run in the 2nd inning, but the Yellowjackets scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning and 4 runs in the 3rd inning to put the score to 8-2 after 3 innings.  The game was then suspended due to rain.  The game will be finished at Tucker County on April 4th.  Blaike Adams had the lone hit for Tucker County.  Justin Robeson started the game pitching for the Mt. Lions, while Ethan Rosenau, Maddox Anderson and Xander Lambert entered the game in relief on the mound. 

 

FRANKLIN – Tucker County traveled to Pendleton County on Wednesday March 27th.  The Mt. Lions led the game into the 4th inning, but fell the Wildcats scored 5 runs over the last 2 inning to take the game 5-1.

Tucker County scored first as they led after 1 inning 1-0.  Pendleton County was unable to get their offense going through 3 innings as the Mt. Lions led after 3 innings 1-0.  In the bottom of the 4th inning the homestanding Wildcats scored 3 runs to make the score 3-1 Pendleton County.  Tucker County was unable to answer as the Wildcats continued to lead after 5 innings 3-1.  Pendleton County then added some insurance runs on the bottom of the 6th inning as they score 2 runs to put the score to 5-1 after 6 innings.  The visiting Mt. Lions were unable to score in the top of the 7th inning and the game ended with the final score of 5-1 Pendleton County.

Ethan Rosenau led the Mt. Lions at the plate with 2 hits.  Maddox Anderson and Justin Robeson added 1 hits each for Tucker County.  Nate Ricottilli started the game on the mound for the Mt. Lions as he went 3 innings.  Ethan Rosenau, Justin Robeson and Maddox Anderson also entered the game in pitching relief for Tucker County.

 

PHILIPPI – The Mt. Lions traveled to Philip-Barbour on Friday March 29th.  The Colts jumped out to an early lead and the game was stopped due to rain in the top of the 3rd inning with the score of 8-3 Philip-Barbour.

The homestanding Colts scored 4 runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to take an early 4-0 lead after 1.  Tucker County then scored 2 runs in the top of the 2nd inning to put the score to 4-2 Philip-Barbour.  In the bottom of the 2nd inning the Colts would score again as they increased the lead to 8-2 after 2 innings.  The Mt. Lions were responding in the top of the 3rd as they scored 1 run and the bases were loaded with 1 out when the game was suspended due to rain with the score of 8-3 Philip-Barbour.

Justin Robeson and Nate Ricottilli had 2 hits each to lead Tucker County.  Xander Lambert(double) added 1 hit for the Mt. Lions before the game was stopped.  Ethan Rosenau got the start for Tucker County on the mound and Nate Ricottilli entered the game in relief for the Mt. Lions.

 

Tucker County will return to action on Thursday April 4th for a game against Moorefield at home at 6pm.  The Mt. Lions will then host Trinity on Monday April 8th at 6:30pm and they will host Southern on Tuesday April 9th at 6pm.  For more information go to TuckerCountySports.com.
