TUCKER COUNTY BASKETBALL PICK UP WIN AT GLENVILLE STATE

GLENVILLE – The Mt. Lions traveled to Glenville State College on Monday December 11th to face Fayetteville in the opening round of the IOGA Tournament. Tucker County could not complete the fourth quarter comeback and fell in the contest 52-47.


The first quarter belonged to Fayetteville as they outscored Tucker County 16-9 after one quarter of play. The Mt. Lions would fight back in the second quarter as Tucker County outshot the Pirates 10-6 to make the halftime score 22-19 Fayetteville.

Tucker County managed just 10 points in the third quarter and the Pirates scored 11 points to make the score 33-29 Fayetteville after three. The Mt. Lions could not get the job done in the final quarter as Fayetteville would outscore Tucker County 19-18 and take home the IOGA opening round win by the final score of 52-47.

Corrick Ambrose led Tucker County with 14 points, 6 rebounds and Alec Cummings added 10 points. Jeffrey Snyder pulled down a team high 8 rebounds in the Mt. Lions loss. Fayetteville was led by Gabe Mack with 14 points.

GLENVILLE – Tucker County traveled to Glenville State College last Friday December 15th for the IOGA Consolation game against Gilmer County. The Mt. Lions exploded for 21 points in the first quarter and never looked back as they took home their first victory of the season by the final score of 71-33.

The first quarter belonged to Tucker County as they outpaced the Titans of Gilmer County in the first to lead after one 21-2. The Mt. Lions remained hot in the second quarter and the defense continued to dominate as Tucker County outscored Gilmer County 16-11 to extend the Mt. Lions lead at the half to 37-13.

Tucker County then extended their lead again in the third as they outscored the Titans 13-10 to make the score 50-23 after three quarters. Gilmer County was not coming back in this contest as the fourth quarter showed continued dominance from Tucker County as they would outpace Gilmer County in the fourth 21-10 to get the victory 71-33. Jeffrey Snyder led Tucker County with 19 points, 8 rebounds and Corrick Ambrose chipped in with 14 points, 10 rebounds. Ben Cromer also had 14 points and Alec Cummings added 11 points for the Mt. Lions in the win. Gilmer County was Gunner Haley with 18 points.

Tucker County(1-3) will travel to Wheeling Central Catholic on Thursday December 21st and then they will host Bishop-Walsh, MD on Friday December 22nd after the TCHS Girls’ Basketball team host Bishop-Walsh, MD at 6pm. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
