GLENVILLE – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Gilmer County for their first game of the season on Saturday March 6th. Tucker County got an early lead and held on for a good road victory at Gilmer County 52-46.
The first quarter was controlled by the Mt. Lions as they had the lead after one 15-9. The Titans battled back in the second quarter as they outscored Tucker County in the period 15-9 to make the score 24-24 at halftime.
Tucker County got the lead back in the third as they out shot Gilmer County on offense in the third 14-11 to give the Mt. Lions the 38-35 advantage after three. The fourth quarter went back and forth, but Tucker County edged out the win as they outscored the Titans 14-11 in the fourth to get the win on the road 52-46.
Zack Colebank led Tucker County in scoring with 22 points and Trenton Wilfong added 9 points. Zach Long and Ashton Lycilter chipped in with 8 points each for the Mt. Lions victory.
Tucker County (1-0) will return to action on today Wednesday March 10th at Pendleton County with the JV contest starting at 6:15pm. The Mt. Lions will then host Moorefield on Friday March 12th at home with the JV contest getting started at 5:45pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
