HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team began Postseason play with a first round Sectional game at home against Harman on Monday February 27th. Tucker County dominated the game start to finish to capture the victory by the final score of 78-24.
The first quarter was dominated by the Mt. Lions as they raced out to a 17-8 lead after one quarter. Tucker County built on the lead in the second quarter as they outpaced the Panthers 22-11 to make the halftime score 39-19 Tucker County.
Tucker County would score 23 points in the third quarter and held Harman to just 2 points to take a commanding 62-21 lead after three. The Mt. Lions reserve players played the rest of the night as Tucker County cruised to a 78-24 victory.
Ethan Crosten led Tucker County with 19 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and Josh Kincaid had 15 points, 13 rebounds. Kordell Fulton followed with 11 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists and Wesley Snyder chipped in with 10 points, 3 assists. Jakob Cousin pulled down 8 rebounds for Tucker County in the win.

The game would go back and forth in the first quarter as Tucker County held a slim 17-14 advantage after one quarter. East Hardy and Tucker County played even in the second quarter as both teams scored 17 points to make the halftime score 34-31 Mt. Lions at the half.
The defense for Tucker County stepped up in the third quarter as they outpaced the Cougars 20-11 in the third to push the Mt. Lions lead to 54-42 after three. Tucker County then exploded in the fourth quarter for 27 points and held East Hardy to just 10 points to give the Mt. Lions the win 81-52.
Ethan Crosten led Tucker County with 17 points, 5 rebounds, 4 steals, 3 assists. Kordell Fulton and Wesley Snyder added 15 points each for the Mt. Lions in the win. Josh Kincaid chipped in with 14 points, 7 rebounds. Fulton also pulled down 9 rebounds and dished out 6 assists. Jakob Cousin led Tucker County in rebounding with 13 rebounds and collected 8 points in the win for the Mt. Lions.
KEYSER – The Mt. Lions traveled to Keyser on Friday March 3rd to play Pendleton County for the Region 2 Section 2 Championship. Tucker County pulled away late in the contest and made their free throws down the stretch to pick up the victory 61-53.

The Mt. Lions got off to a slow start as Pendleton County ran out to an early lead before Tucker County fought back late in the quarter to make the score 12-8 Wildcats after one quarter. Tucker County continued to fight back in the second quarter as the Mt. Lions outscored Pendleton County 18-10 in the second to give Tucker County a 26-22 halftime lead.
Pendleton County pushed back ahead in the third with an 18-12 advantage in the third to make the score 40-38 Wildcats after three. The Mt. Lions would own the fourth quarter as they outshot Pendleton County 23-13 in the final quarter to pick up the Sectional Championship by the final score of 61-53.
Ethan Crosten led Tucker County in scoring with 20 points and Kordell Fulton scored 11 of his 13 points in the fourth quarter to help the Mt. Lions secure the win. Corrick Ambrose added 9 points, 8 rebounds off the bench for Tucker County and Josh Kincaid had 8 points, 8 rebounds. Jakob Cousin led Tucker County in rebounding with 9 boards.
Tucker County(16-9) will host Gilmer County on Thursday March 9th for the Regional Championship with the winner advancing to the WV Boys’ Basketball State Tournament March 15th-18th at the Charleston Civic Center. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
