Tucker County Boys drop game at Moorefield 60-40

MOOREFIELD – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team traveled to Moorefield on Wednesday January 8th. Tucker County hung tough through two quarters as they trailed by just 2 points at the half, but Moorefield pulled away in the third quarter to claim the 60-40 victory over Tucker County.

The first quarter was a battle as both teams played good defense and the Yellowjackets led after one quarter 10-7. Tucker County fought back in the second quarter to outscore Moorefield 16-15 to make the score 25-23 Moorefield at the halftime intermission.

The third quarter belonged to the Yellowjackets as they held the Mt. Lions to just 4 points in the third and Moorefield put up 14 points in the quarter to push the Moorefield lead to 39-27 after three quarters. Moorefield controlled the fourth quarter as well 21-13 to make the final score 60-40 Moorefield.

Trey Key led Tucker County with 9 points and Gus Mullennex added 8 points for the Mt. Lions in the loss. Wyatt Betler collected 6 rebounds in the game for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions fell in the JV contest by the final score of 49-40.
