Tucker County Boys get road at Tygarts Valley 73-47

MILL CREEK – The Mt. Lions traveled to Tygarts Valley on Tuesday January 27th for their only game of the week. Tucker County got off to a slow start but pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back to pick up the road win 73-47.

The game was close in the first quarter as the Mt. Lions held a 22-16 advantage after the one quarter. In the second quarter Tucker County pulled away as they outscored the Bulldogs 22-11 in the stanza to lead at the half 44-27.

The Mt. Lions built a larger lead in the third quarter as they outscored Tygarts Valley 14-8 to make the score 58-35 Tucker County after three. Tucker County then sealed the victory in the fourth quarter and took home the road victory over Tygarts Valley 73-47.

Derek Zirk led Tucker County with 18 points, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and Seth Evans finished with 17 points, 5 rebounds. Owen Evans added 12 points, 9 rebounds – Ethan Crosten had 12 points, 4 steals and Mikhail Lewis dished out 6 assists for Tucker County. The Mt. Lions JV team got the win also 52-36.

The Mt. Lions(12-3) host East Hardy tonight for a JV and Varsity contest and then they will travel to Southern, MD on Friday February 6th. The JV games will tipoff at 5:45pm with a Varsity game to follow in each contest. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
