HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lions Boys’ Basketball team hosted Sectional rival East Hardy on Monday March 29th. The game went back and forth the whole contest with Tucker County holding on for a thrilling 57-56 victory.
Tucker County got off to a good start as the Mt. Lions led after one quarter of play 14-8. The visiting Cougars fought back in the second quarter to outscore Tucker County 13-6 in the second to give East Hardy a slim 21-20 led at the halftime break.
The third quarter went back and forth between the two teams as bot scored 19 points each in the third to make the score 40-39 Cougars after three quarters. In the fourth quarter both teams continued to battle. Tucker County gained an advantage late in the contest and held off the Cougars to pick up the thrilling victory by the final score of 57-56.
Zack Colebank led Tucker County with 17 points, 7 rebounds and Gus Mullennex added 12 points, 5 rebounds. Ashton Lycliter had 10 points, 7 rebounds for the Mt. Lions and Trenton Wilfong chipped in with 10 points, 7 rebounds for Tucker County in the win. The Tucker County JV team also got the win over East Hardy 57-41.
HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team played host to Keyser on Thursday April 1st. The Mt. Lions pulled away in the fourth quarter to get the home win over the Golden Tornado by the score of 60-53.
The first quarter was competitive, but Tucker County pulled ahead slightly after one quarter 15-11. Keyser controlled the second quarter as they outscored the Mt. Lions 21-6 in the second to take a 32-21 halftime lead.
In the third quarter both teams played even on offense 16-16 to make the score 48-37 Keyser after three. Tucker County then responded in the fourth quarter as they fought back to score 23 points and the Mt. Lions held Keyser to just 5 points in the period to give Tucker County the 60-53 victory.
Maddox Anderson led Tucker County with 17 points, 4 assists and Zack Colebank added 12 points, 12 rebounds. The Mt. Lions also got 10 points, 6 rebounds from Ashton Lycliter in the win. The Keyser JV team took the win over Tucker County 66-53.
Tucker County (8-2) will return to action tonight Wednesday April 7th at East Hardy and they will host Petersburg on Friday April 9th. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
