TUCKER COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY REGIONAL RESULTS

Tucker County’s Will White finished in 10th place at the Regional Championship on Oct 19th to qualify for the State Championship Meet Oct 28th at Midland Trail. Photo submitted by Michele Mullenax

ELKINS – The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams traveled to Elkins on October 19th for the A-AA Region 2 Championship Meet. The meet consisted of 6 teams in the Girls’ race and 10 teams in the Boys’ race.


Sophomore Will White was the top finisher for the Mt. Lions as he finished 10th with a time of 19:48.64. The 10th place finish qualified White for the State Cross Country Meet on October 28th at Cabell Midland. Other finishers and times for the Tucker County Boys’ are as follows: 17th Jack Melnick(20:39.57), 18th Joseph Lewandowski(20:39.88), 39th Jonathan Rhodes(22:15.52), 45th Chris Chambers(23:13.97), 47th Taylor Long(23:30.36) and 57th Cameron Wamsley(25:28.55). The Tucker County Boys’ team placed 5th overall(121).

Senior Natalie Evans was the top finisher for the Tucker County Girls’ team with a 32nd place finish and a time of 27:32.77. Other finishers for Tucker County are as follows: 42nd Mikala Betler(30:05.21), 44th Maya Paul(30:31.50), 46th Caitlin Fladung(30:50.20), 47th Zoe Nestor(30:52.53), 55th Kandace Nestor(32:26.88). The Lady Mt. Lions finished 6th overall with a team score of 157 points.
