The Tucker County High School football team took the field for their first preseason test Friday night, traveling to Barbour County to face the Philip Barbour Colts in a scrimmage matchup. Despite a strong effort, the Mountain Lions came up short, falling 24–14.
Tucker County’s offense showed flashes of promise throughout the contest. Quarterback Luke Barb connected with Reid Kisamore on a 22-yard touchdown pass for the team’s first score of the night. Later, Cade Rapp broke loose for a 28-yard touchdown run, adding another highlight to the team’s performance.
The scrimmage was also an opportunity for younger players to gain valuable experience, as starting quarterback Sam Marks remains sidelined with an injury.
While the scoreboard favored the Colts, the game offered meaningful reps and development for Tucker County as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The Mountain Lions will be back in action this Thursday at 6 p.m. as they travel to Doddridge County for a Grid-O-Rama, where they’ll face off in controlled matchups against Doddridge County and East Fairmont High School.
