The starters that look to continue the winning tradition at Tucker County is seniors Stephanie Betler, Bekah Simmons and Savannah Ambrose. Lost to graduation from last year’s team is point guard Hunter Radford and 4 year starter and 1,000 point scorer Amber Evans. Coach Ambrose is looking to get some big minutes from his seniors, but he is also expecting big things from his juniors Madison Mullenax, Olivia Miller, Aiyana Kachmarek and Summer Snyder who got some valuable time at the varsity level last year. Others that look to help out at the varsity level are freshman Elizabeth Nichols and sophomores Madison Reall, Lydia Mullenax and Lily Nestor.
This year the schedule is a little tougher than last year as the Lady Mt. Lions will play a scrimmage game at “AA” Fairmont Senior on Dec 2nd and then open the season at home against “AA” Philip-Barbour on Dec 6th. Tucker County will face “AAA” John Marshall in the first game on Dec 20th. On the next evening Tucker County will face Wheeling Central Catholic at John Marshall. This year will feature home and away games against Notre Dame, “AA” Petersburg and Philip-Barbour and rivals Southern Garrett, East Hardy, Tygarts Valley and Pocahontas Co to give the Lady Mt. Lions some good experience heading into the playoffs. The schedule also features a home game against “AAA” John Marshall. The remaining schedule has home and away contest against Pendleton Co and Moorefield and an away contest against Trinity Christian. The Sectional and Regional arrangement this year is as follows: Region 2, Section 1; Tucker County, Tygarts Valley, South Harrison, Notre Dame, Harman and Union.
