MILL CREEK – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Tygarts Valley on Tuesday Feb 4th to take on the Lady Bulldogs. Tucker County used a strong third quarter to pull away and pick up the road victory 49-34.
The game was close while both teams battled back and forth as Tucker County held a slim 9-8 lead after one. In the second quarter both teams struggled on offense and the defense held the scoring down. Tygarts Valley used some late scoring in the quarter to take a 20-19 lead in the locker room at the half.
The Lady Mt. Lions came out of the halftime inspired as they picked up the defense and outscored the Lady Bulldogs 18-4 in the third quarter to take a 13 point lead after three 37-24. Tucker County outscored the host team in the fourth quarter as well and the reserves finished the game giving the Lady Mt. Lions the win 49-34.
Stephanie Betler led Tucker County with 15 points, 5 steals and Bekah Simmons finished with 8 points. Savannah Ambrose added 5 blocks and Elizabeth Nichols led in rebounding with 6 boards. Tucker County JV team got the win in the first game 43-21.
FRANKLIN – Tucker County took to the road once again on Thursday Feb 6th and got the win over Pendleton County 49-37.
The Lady Mt. Lions got off to a slow start once again and the Lady Wildcats outscored the visiting team 13-9 in the first quarter. Tucker County picked up the defense in the second quarter and held Pendleton County to 7 points while scoring 12 to give the Lady Mt. Lions a slim 21-20 lead at the half.
The defensive pressure for Tucker County continued in the third quarter and the visitors extended their lead 34-27 after three. In the fourth quarter the Lady Mt. Lions added to the lead and picked up the road victory 49-37.
Aiyana Kachmarek scored a career high 15 points and grabbed 9 rebounds for Tucker County. Stephanie Betler added 11 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and Savannah Ambrose finished with 5 block shots. The Lady Mt. Lions JV team picked up the win also 32-22.
OAKLAND, MD – The Lady Mt. Lions traveled to Southern, MD on Saturday Feb 8th and the Lady Rams used a strong defensive effort to hold Tucker County to just 30 total points to get the win 60-30.
Southern and Tucker County battled it out in the first quarter as neither team could establish momentum. The Lady Rams held a slight advantage after the first quarter 14-10. The offense for the Lady Mt. Lions then struggled and Southern pulled away as they outscored Tucker County 19-3 in the second quarter to build a 33-13 lead at the half.
In the third quarter the Lady Rams extended their lead slightly as the score showed 44-21 Lady Rams after three quarters. Southern outpaced the Lady Mt. Lions in the fourth quarter as well to get the win by final score of 60-30.
Stephanie Betler led Tucker County with 12 points and 6 rebounds. Aiyana Kachmarek added 6 points, 6 rebounds and Bekah Simmons finished with 6 points, 5 rebounds. The Tucker County JV team won the opening game 39-31.
Tucker County(10-4) was scheduled to travel to Pocahontas County on Monday Feb 10th then travel to Moorefield on Tuesday Feb 11th. They will host Petersburg tonight at 7:30pm and then they will travel to Trinity Christian on Saturday for a varsity only contest that starts at 4:30pm.
