Tucker County hosted the PVC Championship at Canaan Valley on Monday September 22nd.
Pocahontas County took home first place with an 18 hole team score of 362. Tygarts Valley was 2 strokes behind in second place with a 364, Moorefield took home third with a 379, Tucker County finished fourth with a score of 405 and Union placed fifth with a 514. Seth Evans led the Mt. Lions with a 95, Wes Knotts came in with a 99, Olivia Goff had a score of 101 and Carleigh Bolyard finished with a score of 110.
On Wednesday September 24th the Mt. Lions traveled to the Elks Country Club in Elkins for a match hosted by Tygarts Valley that also involved Pocahontas County, and Union. Pocahontas won the event with a score of 198, Tucker County placed second with a 199, Tygarts Valley finished third with 200 and Union shot a 224 to finish fourth. Seth Evans from Tucker County was low medalist in the match with a 39 for the day. Olivia Goff shot 49, Wes Knotts finished with a 52 and Carleigh Bolyard added a score of 59 for the Mt. Lions team.
Tucker County finished the regular season at home on Thursday September 25th at Canaan Valley as they hosted Southern, MD. Southern won the dual match with a score of 172. Matt McCullough from Southern was low medalist with a score of 41. Tucker County finished the match with a team score of 195. Seth Evans led the way with a 45, Wes Knotts had a 47, Olivia Goff came in with a 49 and Carleigh Bolyard finished with a 54. Wes Knotts was recognized before the match on senior night. Wes was escorted by his parents Greg and Heather Knotts.
The Mt. Lions were scheduled to compete in the Region 2 Championship on Monday September 29th at the Raven at Snowshoe. The top 2 teams will move onto States in Wheeling, along with the next two players with the lowest scores. Teams competing in the Regional include Tygarts Valley, Tucker County, Pocahontas County, Union, Moorefield, Notre Dame and South Harrison. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
