HOLLY MEADOWS – The Tucker County Golf team hosted regional contender Gilmer County along with Tygarts Valley and Union on Tuesday August 30th. Conner Nestor was the top finisher for Tucker County with a score of 43, followed by Carleigh Bolyard and Easton Snyder with 47 each. Corrick Ambrose rounded out the scoring for Tucker County with a 55. Gilmer County won the event with a team score of 186, followed by Tucker County in 2nd place with a 192. Tygarts Valley was third with 231 and Union did not have enough players to make a team score. Coach Goughnour had this to say about the match, “There was a very nice crowd there to cheer on the Mt. Lions and I think some of the golfers were disappointed they didn’t play better, but that’s golf.”
MORGANTOWN – The Mt. Lions Golf team traveled to The Pines Golf Course in Morgantown on Wednesday August 31st that was hosted by Trinity Christian. Notre Dame and Southern, MD battled it out for 1st and 2nd place and Tucker County and Trinity tied for 3rd place. Coach Goughnour was pleased with the effort saying, “Each returning Tucker County golfer is shooting better than they did last year, our three freshman are improving each week and are pushing themselves to make the PVC playoffs on September 19th.”
Tucker County will return to action tonight September 7th at Keyser’s Polish Pines at 4pm. The Golf team will be at Canaan Valley next Tuesday and Thursday.
