Tucker County High School Baseball Update

PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Baseball team hosted Pendleton County on Wednesday April 26th. Tucker County got down in the 1st inning and never recovered as they fell in the contest 16-1.


Pendleton County took the lead in the 1st inning on a double and 3 singles. The Wildcats then added 7 runs in the 4th inning off a double and 2 singles. Cameron Wamsley took the loss on the mound for Tucker County. Garrett Carrico led the Mt. Lions with 2 hits on 3 at bats and Cameron Wamsley, Christian Purnell and Michael Gherman each had 1 hit in the Tucker County loss.

Tucker County hosted Trinity Christian the same night Wednesday April 26th in Game 2 of a double header and the Mt. Lions got the victory 12-1. Shayne Liller started the game with a bang as Liller connected with a home run in the 1st inning and Liller also added a single in the 1st inning also. Garrett Carrico and Christian Purnell also singled in the 1st inning. Michael Gherman earned the win for Tucker County as he struck out 7 batters and allowed just 1 run. The Mt. Lions collected 9 hits in the contest, Shayne Liller and Christian Purnell collected multiple hits for Tucker County in the win.

PHILIPPI – The Tucker County Baseball team traveled to Philip-Barbour for 1 game on Friday April 28th. The Mt. Lions could not hold the early lead and fell in the game 8-2.

Tucker County got the lead in the 1st inning as Slayter Liller singled on a 1-1 count to push 2 runs across the plate for the Mt. Lions early. The Colts fought right back in the bottom of the 1st inning as they scored 3 runs. Philip-Barbour added 3 runs in the 3rd inning and went on to take the home victory 8-2. Liller took the loss for Tucker County. Liller, Cameron Wamsley and Justin Fike contributed with 1 hits each for Tucker County in the loss.

Tucker County(5-10) will host Preston Thursday May 4th at 5pm and then Tucker County will travel to Notre Dame on Friday May 5th at 6pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
