The Annual Sports Recognition Ceremony at Tucker County High School took place on Tuesday May 16th in the school auditorium. Principal Jay Hamric started the ceremony with a welcome to everyone in attendance.
The TCHS Golf team was announced to start the ceremony by Head Coach Sam Goughnour. The Boys’ Basketball JV and Varsity team was announced next. Softball Head Coach Greg Hyre was next as the members of the TCHS Softball were honored next. Tucker County Football was the next sport to be announced as Head Coach AJ Rapp honored his team members. The members of the Iron Mountain Lion were also presented plagues.
Girls’ Cross Country Coach Michele Mullenax and Boys’ Cross Country Coach Dave Nelson were next in the ceremony. Next on the night was Baseball that was presented by head coach Josh Evans. Girls’ Basketball was next as Head Coach Jim Ambrose presented certificates to the JV and Varsity. Boys’ & Girls Track teams were announced first by Coach Gutshall and Coach Eakle.
Certificates, letters and pins were handed out to all members of this year’s team.
Athletic Director Dave Kyle then introduced the Senior PVC Conference Scholar Athletes. Those achieving this award were Quinn Buckley, Ethan Crosten, Justin Fike, Jameson Hardy, Brett Strawderman, Brody Strawderman, Melanie Adams, Camryn Cummings, Kenzie Kyle, Elizabeth Nichols and Leah Underwood.
The night concluded with two awards. The first award was the Senior Female and Male Academic Athlete of the year which is awarded to the Female and Male with the highest grade point average. This award was presented to Melanie Adams and Justin Fike. The final student award of the night was the Senior Female and Male Athlete of the year, which is voted on by the head coaches. These awards went to Elizabeth Nichols and the co-male award went to Brody Strawderman and Eddie Kachmarek.

- Girls’ Track: Emily Crosten, Sydney Moore, Carleigh Bolyard, Elizabeth Nichols, Sarah Bates, Macy Nestor, Kelcee James, Sydney Nestor and Cecily Strawderman.
- Boys’ Track: Ben Callaway, Corrick Ambrose, Logan Pennington, Brody Strawderman, Will White and Gariet Pennington.
- Cheer: Kenzie Kyle and Leah Underwood.
- Cross Country: Will White.
- Football: Eddie Kachmarek, Cole Rapp and Brody Strawderman.
- Girls’ Basketball: Terra Kuhn, Sydney Nestor, Elizabeth Nichols and Sydney Moore.
- Boys’ Basketball: Kordell Fulton and Ethan Crosten.
- Baseball: Justin Fike.
