PARSONS – The Mt. Lions Football team hosted Gilmer County on Friday October 21st. Tucker County jumped out to a 30-0 halftime lead and then the Mt. Lions cruised to a 42-14 victory to up their record to 8-0.
Tucker County would strike first as Jared Reall ran the ball in from 11 yards out for a touchdown with 5:25 left in the first quarter. The 2 point conversion was good on a Ethan Rosenau pass to Ashton Lycliter to make the score 8-0 Mt. Lions. Tucker County then scored again on a Rosenau screen pass to Levi Bennett for a 16 yard touchdown with 2:21 left in the first. The PAT was good on a pass to Maddox Anderson to up the score to 16-0 Tucker County after one quarter ended.
In the second quarter the Mt. Lions continued to dominate as Rosenau connected with Blaike Adams for a 52 yard touchdown pass. The PAT was good on a pass to Wilfong to put the score to 24-0 Tucker County with 11:50 left in the second quarter. The Mt. Lions would then get into the endzone one more time before halftime as Rosenau found Anderson for an 18 yard touchdown pass with 5 seconds left in the second quarter. The PAT kick was no good to give Tucker County a 30-0 halftime lead.
The third quarter would belong to the Mt. Lions as Tucker County scored on a 10 yard touchdown pass from Rosenau to Lycliter. The PAT was not good to make the score 36-0 Tucker County with 6:45 left in the third quarter. The Mt. Lions would score once again in the third on a 5 yard touchdown run by Jared Reall with 3:14 left in the third. The PAT was no good to give Tucker County a commanding 42-0 after three quarters of play.
The running clock rule was in effect in the fourth quarter and the Mt. Lions worked in some reserve players. Gilmer County then got on the scoreboard in the final quarter on a 20 yard touchdown run with 7:13 left in the game. The PAT was no good to make the score 42-6 Tucker County. The Titans would then score again against the Mt. Lions reserves on a 23 yard touchdown run. The 2 point conversion was good to put the score to 42-14 Tucker County with 2:18 left in the game. The Mt. Lions then ran out the clock to get the victory by the final score of 42-14.
Tucker County was led by Ethan Rosenau who was 18 of 28 passing for 326 yards and Trenton Wilfong led the team in receiving with 7 catches for 133 yards. Blaike Adams had 2 receptions for 79 yards for Tucker County and Maddox Anderson grabbed 4 catches for 77 yards receiving. Jarod Reall added 46 yards rushing for the Mt. Lions in the win. Dom Mullenax led Tucker County on defense with 6 tackles while Reall and Adams added 5 tackles each for the Mt. Lions on defense. Tucker County outgained the Titans in total yards 370-220. Before the game the Tucker County fall sports senior athletes were honored before the game.
