CHARLESTON – The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ Track teams traveled to Laidley Field in Charleston on Friday May 17th and Saturday May 18th to compete in the State Track Meet.
The Boys’ team captured 17 total medals for the weekend. The Boys’ Shuttle Hurdle Relay captured the Class “A” State Championship in the event as the team of Corrick Ambrose, Ben Callaway, Raine McCauley and Joseph Lewendowski ended with a time of 59.56. Ben Callaway also captured a Class “A” State Championship in the 300m Hurdle Event with a time of 39.86. Will White was State Runner-up in the High Jump event with a jump of 5’10”. Other top finishes were 3rd place, Will White, Long Jump; 3rd place, Will White, Joseph Lewendowski, Ben Callaway, Raine McCauley, 4x400m Relay; 4th place, Corrick Ambrose, 110m Hurdles; 6th place, Cameron Wamsley, Will White, Joseph Lewendowski, Holden Young, 4x800m Relay; 6th place, Zane Myers, Shot Put. The Tucker County Boys’ team finished 6th overall in the State Meet. Shuttle Hurdle Relay: 1st-B.Callaway, R.McCauley, J.Lewendowski, C.Ambrose(59.56). High Jump: 2nd-Will White(5’10”), 11th-Ethan Pacella(5’06”). Long Jump: 3rd-Will White(20’03.5’), 10th-Raine McCauley(18’10”). Shot Put: 6th-Zane Myers(43’00.75”). Discus Throw: 11th-Zane Myers(117’05”)
The Girls’ team captured 4 medals total as the 4x400m Relay team took home 6th place in the event. Members of the 4x400m Girls’ team is as follows: Karlee Smith, Addie Buckley, Macy Nestor and London Hood. Results are as follows: 800m: 14th-Kate Falls(2:49.47). 1600m: 16th-Kate Falls(6:05.91). 3200m: 10th-Kate Falls(13:12.82). 300m Hurdles: 13th-London Hood(51.40). 4x400m: 6th-K.Smith, L.Hood, M.Nestor, A.Buckley(4:28.50. 4x800m: 9th-K.Smith, R.Friend, R.Evans, K.Fallsa(11:03.26).
