The boys’ basketball team of Tucker County High School picked up two solid wins last week. The first game was at home vs. AA Moorefield High School. Tucker was without starting shooting guard Ethan Cummings, who is recovering from a wrist injury. TC jumped out to a 14-8 lead over the Yellowjackets, but Moorefield would pull within two, making the score 25-23 at the half. Tucker put the pedal down to start the second half, outscoring Moorefield 16-5 in the third quarter to extend the lead to 41-28. Tucker sealed the deal in the fourth and secured a 55-37 victory over the Yellowjackets.

Tucker finished the week across state lines against the Southern Garrett (MD) Rams. The game was tight throughout, as Southern held a 13-12 advantage over Tucker. The Mt. Lions fought back and pulled ahead by three going into halftime, leading 23-20. Tucker continued to stack pennies in the second half and slowly built the lead to six, leading 37-31 at the end of three. Tucker buckled down and hit shots down the stretch to take the season sweep of Southern, winning 56-48.

With the wins, Tucker improves to 12-6, with a pivotal home matchup slated for Monday, February 16th against Pendleton County.
