PARSONS – The Wildcats hosted Pendleton County last Wednesday September 17th and suffered a defeat by the final score of 40-14.
Tucker Valley started the game with the ball and marched down the field with a 10 play drive. Mason Johnson ended the drive on a 3 yard touchdown run with 3:00 left in the first quarter. Cole Rapp ran in the PAT on the next play to make the score 8-0 Tucker Valley. Pendleton County went 3 plays and punted on their first possession to give the ball back to Tucker Valley at the Pendleton 44 yard line. A false start penalty stalled the home Wildcat drive and they punted the ball away at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter belonged to the visiting Wildcats as Pendleton County scored with 4:54 left in the second on a 15 yard run and the PAT failed to put the score to 8-6 Tucker Valley. A Tucker Valley punt after 3 plays gave the ball right back to Pendleton County and their offense went to work again. The visitors capped off a 12 play 62 yard drive with a 1 yard touchdown run with 15 seconds left in the first half. The 2 point conversion run was good to make the score 14-8 Pendleton County at halftime.
Pendleton County got the ball to start the third quarter inside Tucker Valley territory after a good kick return. Then 4 plays later Pendleton scored on a touchdown run from 15 yards out to put the visiting team ahead 20-8 with 6:35 left in the third. Tucker Valley then answered on their next possession in just 2 plays as Johnson raced 51 yards for a touchdown with 5:52 left in the third quarter. The PAT was no good to put the score to 20-14 Pendleton County. The visitors would strike right back with an 83 yard touchdown run with 4:41 left in the quarter. The PAT was good to up the Pendleton lead to 28-14. A 3 and out by Tucker Valley on their next possession gave the ball back to Pendleton County and they took advantage. Pendleton would score for the third time in the quarter on a 14 yard touchdown pass and catch with 2:40 left in the third. The PAT was no good to make the score 34-14 Pendleton County.
Tucker Valley moved the ball on their next drive, but a failed 4th down play on the Pendleton 20 yard line gave the ball back to the Pendleton County offense early in the fourth quarter. Once again Pendleton went to work as they would score 5 plays later on a 44 yard touchdown run. A failed PAT would make the score 40-14 with 4:57 left in the contest. The reserve players finished out the rest of the game for both teams and Pendleton County picked up the win with the final score of 40-14.
Mason Johnson finished the game for Tucker Valley with 15 carries for 111 yards rushing and Cole Rapp added 5 carries on the ground for 29 yards. Corrick Ambrose was 3 of 9 passing for 23 yards passing for Tucker Valley and Liam Hood finished with 8 carries for 51 yards rushing.
