CLARKSBURG – The Wildcats Middle School Football team traveled to Washington Irving Middle on Wednesday October 12th. Tucker Valley got down early and could not complete the comeback as Washington Irving got the win by the final score of 56-48.
Washington Irving got off to a fast start as they built an early 14-0 lead. Tucker Valley then got on the scoreboard with a 55 yard touchdown pass from Luke Barb pass to Ty Ricottilli to put the score to 14-8 WI would add another score before the first quarter ended to put the score to 22-8 Washington Irving. The Wildcats then fought back with 1 yard touchdown run by Barb to make the score 22-16 WI. The home team WI would then add 2 scores in the second quarter to put the halftime score to 36-16 Washington Irving at the half.
WI then scored to start the third quarter, but Tucker Valley answered right back on a Barb 45 yard touchdown run to make the score 44-24 after three quarters. WI would score to open the fourth quarter, but again Tucker Valley came right back to score on 35 yard touchdown run by Barb. The Wildcats then recovered an onside kick. Tucker Valley then scored on a 5 yard touchdown pass from Barb to Cayden Arnold. The Wildcats defense then forced a fumble and Tucker Valley’s Arnold scooped up the fumble and raced in for a touchdown to cut the WI lead to 50-42 with under 2 minutes remaining in the game. WI then would score off a big run play to make the score 56-42. Tucker Valley then answered on a 52 yard touchdown run from Barb to put the score to 56-48 WI. The Wildcats attempted an onside kick, but Tucker Valley could not come up with the recovery. The wild game then came to an end with Washington Irving taking the win by the final score of 56-48.
Luke Barb led Tucker Valley with 222 yards rushing and 67 yards passing. Cayden Arnold added 32 yards rushing and a scoop and score on defense. Ty Ricottilli had 30 yards rushing and 55 yards receiving and Ethan Cummings chipped in with 17 yards rushing.
Tucker Valley(2-5) will travel host Elkins tonight Wednesday October 19th for their last game of the season. Kickoff is set for 6:30pm in Parsons. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
