MOOREFIELD – The Wildcat Middle School Football team traveled to Moorefield for the first game of the season on Thursday September 2nd.
Moorefield would strike first as they scored a touchdown in the first quarter and the 2 point conversion was good to make the score 8-0 Moorefield after one quarter of play. Tucker Valley battled back in the second quarter on a Luke Barb 22 yard touchdown run. To cut the Moorefield lead to 8-6 after the failed 2 points conversion attempt. The visiting Wildcats then took the lead before halftime on a Sam Marks 65 yard touchdown pass to Reid Kisamore. The PAT failed once again to make the score 12-8 Tucker Valley at the halftime intermission.
Moorefield took the lead back from Tucker Valley in the third quarter as they scored a touchdown and the PAT failed to give Moorefield the 14-12 lead after three quarters to play. Tucker Valley then surged ahead again in the fourth quarter as Luke Barb returned the Moorefield punt for a touchdown with 3:28 left in the contest. The PAT failed to give Tucker Valley the slim 18-14. The Moorefield team then responded with a big 35 yard touchdown pass with 15 seconds to go in the game to seal the victory over Tucker Valley by the final score of 20-18.
