The Tucker Valley Middle School volleyball teams faced tough competition last week, taking on Kasson on Monday and Elkins on Thursday in both home and away matches. The Wildcats showed durable performances across their JV and Varsity squads, with notable efforts in serving, blocking, and teamwork.

The JV Wildcats played a competitive three-set match against Kasson. In the first set, Kosi Slaughbough led the team with strong serving as Tucker Valley secured a 25-21 win. Kasson bounced back in the second set with a 25-17 victory, despite solid play from Kylea Shae Boyles. In the decisive third set, Whitley Fowler stepped up with excellent serves, helping Tucker Valley close out the match with a 25-15 win. Maci Owens made her presence known at the net with several key blocks throughout the match.

In Thursday’s home match against Elkins, the JV team again went to three sets. The Wildcats took the first set 25-15 behind consistent serving from Kosi Slaughbough and strong blocking from both Slaughbough and Owens. Elkins edged out a 25-23 win in a tightly contested second set, with MiKenley Williams leading in serves and contributing several good bumps and sets alongside Boyles. The Wildcats dominated the third set 25-8, with Avery Decker serving as the top server and Owens continuing her strong blocking performance.

The Varsity squad faced a tough Kasson team and dropped both sets. Kasson took the first set 25-10, despite solid serving efforts from Mia Lambert. In the second set, Tucker Valley improved their play, with Marlee Evans leading in serves, but ultimately fell 25-18.

Tucker Valley Varsity also came up short in their two-set match against Elkins. The first set ended 25-10 in Elkins’ favor, with standout serving from Laila George and Aleena Reed. In the second set, Elkins sealed the win 25-8. Despite the loss, the Wildcats had several spikes from Mia Lambert and Laila George, and strong blocking at the net from Ally Wright and Aleena Reed.

The Wildcats are set to the court again on Monday, September 22 against West Preston.
