BUCKHANNON – The Lady Wildcats Softball team opened the season on the road at Buckhannon on Wednesday March 27th. Tucker Valley picked up the win by the final score of 13-0.
Paige Shaffer and Corrinia Lipscomb combined for a no hitter on the mound for the Lady Wildcats. Tucker Valley was led at the plate by Shaleigh Darlington with a homerun and 2 runs scored. Jacey Davis had a double and 2 runs scored for the Lady Wildcats and Rachel Fulton added 3 runs scored.
GRAFTON – Tucker Valley traveled to Grafton on Friday March 29th for a contest against Taylor County Middle. The Lady Wildcats dominated the contest as they collected the win by the final score of 19-0. Paige Shaffer, Corrinia Lipscomb and Ava Shaffer combined to pitch a 1 hit shutout for Tucker Valley. Rachel Fulton and Jacey Davis led the way in batting for Tucker Valley. Felton had a triple and scored 4 runs while Davis hit a triple, double and scored 3 runs. All the players scored a run in the game for the Lady Wildcats.
GLENVILLE – The Lady Wildcats traveled to Glenville State on Saturday March 30th to play 3 different teams. In Game 1 Tucker Valley faced Calhoun County and picked up the win by the final score of 10-0. Paige Shaffer and Corrinia Lipscomb combined to pitch a perfect game for Tucker Valley. The pair combined for 7 strikeouts in the contest. Shaleigh Darlington led Tucker Valley with 2 doubles and Jacey Davis added 2 singles. Raven Matthews also had a triple for Tucker Valley in the Game 1 win.
Tucker Valley faced off in Game 2 at Glenville State against Gilmer County. Tucker Valley picked up the win over the Lady Titans by the final score of 12-3. Paige Shaffer got the win on the mound. Corrinia Lipscomb led the Lady Wildcats on offense with a double and 2 runs scored. Paige Shaffer also added 3 runs scored for Tucker Valley in the victory.
In Game 3 for Tucker Valley at Glenville State the Lady Wildcats faced East Greenbrier. Paige Shaffer took the loss for Tucker Valley by the final score of 7-2. Corrinia Lipscomb led the Lady Wildcats at the plate with a triple and 2 RBI’s in the contest.
Tucker Valley will return to action Thursday April 4th at Richie County at 5pm and then they will host Barrackville Middle for a doubleheader on Saturday April 6th at 1pm and 2:30pm. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
