The Tucker Valley Middle School Softball team traveled to Gilmer County on Monday April 23rd. The Lady Wildcats fell in the contest by the final score of 10-5. Tucker Valley was led at the plate by Tory Paul, Kate Simmons and Kristen Hicks with 2 hits each. Simmons also scored 2 runs on the night and Rachel Fulton added a 3 run triple. The game was tied at 3 after the 3rd inning, but Gilmer County pulled away late for the victory.
The Lady Wildcats hosted Elkins Middle for a doubleheader on Saturday April 28th. In the first contest Tucker Valley got the victory by the final score of 20-1. Kate Simmons picked up the victory pitching on a complete game while striking out 6 batters. The Lady Wildcats connected with 10 hits in the contest that ended in the 4th inning due to the mercy rule. Simmons and Erin Cassidy led Tucker Valley at the plate with 3 hits each.
Tucker Valley connected with the bat in Game 2 with Elkins Middle as the Lady Wildcats overwhelmed the Lady Hornets for the 11-1 victory to sweep the doubleheader. Corrinia Lipscomb went the distance on the mound and picked up the win for Tucker Valley after 3 innings due to the mercy rule. Lipscomb struck out 6 batters in the game. Kate Simmons and Tory Paul led Tucker Valley on offense with 2 hits each. Simmons also scored 4 runs while Paul and Cheyenne Gooden score 3 runs each.
Tucker Valley will be back in action tonight at home against Doddridge County at 5:30pm. The Lady Wildcats will also host East Fairmont for a doubleheader on Friday May 4th with the first game at 6pm. For more info visit TuckerCountySports.Com.
