TUCKER VOLLEYBALL DEFEAT TYGARTS VALLEY AND UNION

HAMBLETON – The Lady Mt. Lions Volleyball team hosted Tygarts Valley on Tuesday October 17th.  In the JV match the Tucker County JV got the win 2-0 with scores of 25-6 and 25-12.

In the varsity match Tygarts Valley took an early 4-2 lead in Set 1.  The Lady Mt. Lions fought back to tie the score at 4-4.  The Lady Bulldogs then built a 10-6 lead, but Tucker County again surged back to take a 15-12 lead.  The Lady Mt. Lions would maintain the lead the rest of the set as they won Set 1 by the score of 25-22.  In Set 2 Tygarts Valley got off to a 5-1 lead.  Tucker County would then tie the score at 5-5 and 8-8.  The Lady Mt. Lions then pulled out to a 14-8 lead.  The Lady Bulldogs could not stop the Tucker County momentum as the homestanding Lady Mt. Lions won Set 2 by the score of 25-15.  Tucker County exploded out to a 13-1 lead to start Set 3.  Tygarts Valley could not recover as the Lady Mt. Lions won Set 3 by the score of 25-6.  This would give Tucker County the Match win 3-0.  The Lady Mt. Lions team recognized their only senior on Senior Night before the match, Rachel Felton.

 

HAMBLETON – The Tucker County Volleyball team hosted a Tri-Match on Thursday October 19th with Trinity and Union.  In the first match Tucker County faced off against Trinity.  In the first set of the best of 3 set match Trinity raced out to a 13-1 lead.  The Lady Mt. Lions fought back to cut the Trinity lead to 16-9.  The visiting Lady Warriors then pulled away as they led 21-10 late in the set.  Trinity then got the Set 1 win 25-16.  In Set 2 Trinity once again got off to a quick start as they led 5-1 early, but Tucker County responded to tie the score at 5-5.  Trinity then took a 17-10 lead midway through the set.  Tucker County could not complete the comeback as Trinity got the Set 2 win 25-13.  This would give Trinity the 2-0 Match win. 

 

Trinity would then face off against Union for the second match of the night.  The Lady Warriors would get the Match win over Union in straight sets 25-19 and 25-18 to win the match over Union 2-0.

 

In the last match of the night Tucker County would play Union.  The visiting Lady Tigers got off to a quick start in Set 1 as they led the Lady Mt. Lions 7-2.  Tucker County battled back to tie the score at 13-13.  The rest of Set 1 was back and forth as there were 3 more ties at 14-14, 15-15, 18-18.  The Lady Mt. Lions then pulled away for the Set 1 win 25-19.  In Set 2 Union led early 7-4, but Tucker County responded to tie the score at 7-7.  Then the Lady Mt. Lions took the lead and started to pull away as they led 20-11.  Union was unable to stop the Tucker County momentum as the Lady Mt. Lions would take Set 2 by the score of 25-13.  This would give the homestanding Lady Mt. Lions the 2-0 match win over Union.

 

Tucker County(6-16) will start Sectional play next week.  The Sectional opponent and date has yet to be determined.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
