The Tucker Valley Wildcat football team kicked off their 2025 season in commanding fashion last week with a 30–0 shutout victory over the Braxton County Knights in front of a spirited home crowd.
The Wildcats wasted no time getting on the scoreboard. After receiving the opening kickoff, quarterback Titus Bowley led the team down the field and capped off the drive with a 3-yard touchdown run around the edge. Although the conversion attempt was no good, Tucker Valley held an early 6–0 lead.
While the first quarter remained quiet after that, the second quarter was all Wildcats. Bowley connected with wide receiver Legend Harper for two touchdown passes, one from 16 yards out and another from 21 yards, putting Tucker Valley up 22–0 heading into halftime.
The third quarter featured strong defensive stands from both teams, but the Wildcats sealed the deal in the fourth. Fletcher Hyre broke free for a 25-yard touchdown run and followed it up by powering in the two-point conversion, bringing the final score to 30–0 in favor of the home team.
Tucker Valley’s defense was dominant, holding the Knights to under 50 yards of total offense and surrendering just two first downs. Eighth-grade defensive lineman Asher Kisamore was a disruptive force all night, recording multiple sacks, tackles for loss, and forcing fumbles that set the tone for the shutout.
The Wildcat ground game was effective throughout the night: Fletcher Hyre led all rushers with 92 yards and one touchdown; Titus Bowley added 55 yards and a score; Rylan Sexton contributed 34 rushing yards and 16 receiving yards; and Legend Harper was the top target through the air, finishing with two catches, both for touchdowns, totaling 37 yards.
With momentum on their side, the Wildcats will look to continue their strong start as they remain at home this week. Tucker Valley will host the Pocahontas County Warriors on Thursday, September 11th at 6:00 PM.
