CHARLESTON – Governor Jim Justice announced on Friday November 13th that all winter sports would be postponed until January 11, 2021 due to COVID concerns.  The announcement sent shockwaves through the mountain state as High School Girls’ Basketball had started practice on November 9th and High School Boys’ Basketball was set to start on November 16th.  Girls’ and Boys’ Middle School Basketball also had started practice before being shut down.

The delay began as of midnight November 14th.  There was no clarification on Friday from the Governor if the January 11th date would be the first date to have games or the first date to begin practice.  The calendar for winter sports is supposed to adjust moving state playoffs to the end of March or early April.  In the announcement Little League and Travel ball are also postponed until January 11, 2021.  The High School Fall sports were not stopped as the High School Volleyball State Tournament games and High School State Football Playoffs were allowed to continue.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
