TUCKER COUNTY BOYS FALL TO PENDLETON COUNTY AND EAST HARDY

HAMBLETON – The Mt. Lion Boys’ Basketball team hosted Pendleton County on Tuesday February 4th.  The Wildcats got off to a fast start.  Tucker County fought back to tie the game in the fourth quarter, but Pendleton County held off the Mt. Lions for a close win 58-55.

The first quarter was controlled by Pendleton County as they led 21-9 after one quarter.  The second quarter was even as both teams scored 14 points to make the halftime score 35-23 Pendleton County.

Tucker County started to cut into the Wildcats lead in the third.  The Mt. Lions outshot Pendleton County 15-7 in the third quarter to make the score 42-38 Pendleton County at the end of the third.  Tucker County would tie the game in the fourth, but the Wildcats held on for the 58-55 win.

Gus Mullennex led Tucker County with 20 points and Wyatt Betler added 9 points for the Mt. Lions in the loss.  The Tucker County JV team lost in a close game 49-48.

BAKER – The Tucker County Boys’ Basketball team traveled to East Hardy on Thursday February 6th.  East Hardy pulled away for a hard fought win over Tucker County by the final score of 58-52.

The first quarter was played even as the Cougars held a slight 13-11 advantage after one quarter.  East Hardy extended their lead in the second quarter as they outscored the Mt. Lions 19-12 to make the halftime score 32-23 Cougars.

Tucker County outpaced East Hardy in the third 14-12 to give the Cougars the 44-37 advantage after three quarters of play.  The Mt. Lion then outscored East Hardy 15-14 in the final quarter, but the home standing Cougars got the win by the final score of 58-52.

Wyatt Betler led Tucker County in scoring with 17 points and Rudy Pennington added 13 points.  Zach Colebank chipped in with 10 points for the Mt. Lions in the loss.  The Tucker County JV team got the win in the first game by the score of 53-44.

Tucker County (2-14) will return to action tonight Wednesday February 12th at Pocahontas County.  The Mt. Lions will then travel to Keyser on Friday February 14th and then Tucker County will end the busy week at the WVHIT finals on Saturday February 15th at RCB.  For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
