CLARKSBURG – Tucker County traveled to #3 Notre Dame on Friday February 19th to take on the Irish for the second time this season. I slow start for the Mt. Lions put them behind early and Notre Dame went on to take the victory 79-62.

The first quarter was controlled by the home standing Irish as they exploded to a 27-9 lead after one quarter of play. Tucker County fought back in the second quarter to cut into the Irish lead, but Notre Dame came right back to tie the scoring in the quarter 20-20 to make the score 47-29 Irish at the half.

The Mt. Lions responded again in the third as they outpaced the home team 14-11 to put the Notre Dame lead to 58-43 after three. Tucker County continued to chip away at the Irish lead in the fourth quarter. A Seth Evans basket midway through the fourth quarter cut the Irish lead to 11 at 64-53. Notre Dame responded with another run to push the lead back to 18. Tucker County then got 3 three point baskets to go with 2 minutes to play to cut the lead to 13, but the Mt. Lions would get no closer and Notre Dame made their foul shots down the stretch to take the win 79-62.

Seth Evans led Tucker County with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Skyler Humphrey had 11 points, 9 rebounds and Ethan Crosten added 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals for Tucker County. Jarrod West led Notre Dame with 36 points. The Tucker County JV team lost the first game in a tight contest 60-57.

The Mt. Lions(14-3) will travel to Pendleton County on Saturday February 27th and then they will open Sectional play on Tuesday March 1st at Elkins High School. For more info or complete schedules go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
