TUCKER COUNTY CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS QUALIFY FOR STATES

WEST UNION – The Tucker County Girls’ and Boys’ Cross Country teams traveled to Doddridge County last Thursday October 18th to compete in the Region 2 Championship Meet. The Girls’ and Boys’ teams both finished in 6th place respectively to qualify for the State Meet this weekend. It was the first time in TCHS school history that the Girls’ team qualified for the State Meet. The Boys’ team had not qualified for the State Meet since 2007.

In the Boys’ race 82 runners took to the course and the Tucker County Boys’ took home 6th place honors as a team. The Mt. Lions runners completed as follows: 19th Holden Young(19:23.56), 29th Will White(19:53.11), 30th Joseph Lewandowski(19:54.82), 35th John Anderson(20:09.32), 39th Chris Chambers(20:15.22), 46th Taylor Long(21:03.14) and 55th Clay Poling(21:39.79). Holden Young also collected 2nd team All-Region Honors with his top 20 finish.

In the Girls’ race 64 athletes ran the course and the Lady Mt. Lions placed 6th as a team. The Tucker County Girls’ finished individually as follows: 9th Kate Falls(22:46.68), 33rd Karlee Smith(24:57.32), 39th Kristen Hicks(26:17.92), 49th Zoe Nestor(28:07.24), 52nd Inza Pacella(28:59.17), 54th Kandace Nestor(29:43.68) and Caitlin Fladung(30:31.09). Kate Falls made the 1st team All-Region team with her top 10 finish.

Both teams will compete in the State Meet on Saturday October 27th at Cabell Midland High School. The Boys’ race will start at 10am and the Girls’ race will start at 10:45am. For more info go to TuckerCountySports.Com.
